Power & Cooling Upgrades

Unexpected downtime is the worst nightmare of every IT or Facilities Manager. The best way to avoid unexpected downtime caused by failed end of life equipment is to plan an upgrade path, rather than react when something goes wrong.

If you follow a regular maintenance plan, an uninterruptible power supply or air conditioning system will have a service life of around 10 years.

Ignoring the manufacturer’s service life recommendations increases the risk of failure, and in some cases, you could find that spare parts are no longer available when your equipment fails.  In recent years many organisations have migrated much of their computing requirements from on premise data centres to cloud based services. The reduced IT load results in the old UPS and cooling system now being massively oversized for the current needs and extremely inefficient to run.

Our Solutions

Many of our new UPS and data centre cooling products are on the governments Energy Technology Product list and qualify for Enhanced Capital Allowance tax relief. This combined with the reduced operating costs of a new highly efficient UPS or Cooling system make a strong economic case for replacing old equipment.

So, whilst replacing equipment can sometimes be tricky and a little disruptive, it also presents an opportunity to “right size” capacity and improve efficiency. Replacing old legacy equipment with the latest UPS or data centre cooling products can improve performance and lower operating costs.

If your uninterruptible power supply, back up generator or air conditioning system is approaching the end of it’s service life, it’s likely that you’ve already started thinking about a suitable path to replace and upgrade. Read more about when to replace your UPS

If you need assistance planning an upgrade or if you’d like help calculating the op-ex savings you will make replacing old equipment, contact our team today.
